What is pelvic therapy?

womens-health.jpeg

Like all other parts of the body, the pelvic region can become dysfunctional and require treatment. Unfortunately, this is a region of the body that few people are willing to talk about and many people unnecessarily live with problems that can be solved by therapy. Among the many things addressed by pelvic therapy include male and female pelvic or genital pain, bladder and bowel dysfunction, prostate enlargement, diastasis recti, pelvic organ prolapse, post-surgical management and transgender pelvic health. Physical therapy can also help teach mothers to achieve a more comfortable, safer childbirth and address any post-partum pain or dysfunction that often occurs.

Our physical therapists have specialized pelvic health and obstetric physical therapy training to benefit women, men, transgender, children and elder populations with a variety of medical conditions. All treatments are individually designed after a thorough evaluation that involves a detailed examination of multiple body systems with a focus on the pelvic, hip, lumbar, and lower extremity regions.

The advanced education undergone by our pelvic specialists helps them to provide the highest level of care for non-operative and post-surgical rehabilitation of a variety of disorders. When physical therapy alone is not enough to achieve success, we work closely with your other healthcare providers to coordinate multidisciplinary treatment.
