Mara O'Keeffe, PT, DPT

Dr. Mara O’Keeffe hails from Buffalo, NY. She spent 20 years pursuing a career as a professional ballerina studying ballet at Hobart and William Smith Colleges and the Alonzo King LINES Ballet Training Program in San Francisco before landing a job in Denver with Dawson Wallace Dance Project. Following several injuries, she met an incredible physical therapist who helped her discover the fascinating workings of bodies. After sustaining an injury that ended her ballet career, she earned her Pilates teaching certification at The Pilates Center in Boulder in 2014. Upon completing her undergraduate degree in history, she attended Regis University and earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2022.
Dr. O’Keeffe has deep empathy for patients struggling with identity after experiencing an injury. She approaches treatment with warmth and curiosity, taking time to treat the entire person. She enjoys treating orthopedic conditions and incorporating Pilates as a means of rehabilitation. While at Regis, she participated in research studying the clinical experience of members of the LGBTQIA+ community and takes particular interest in caring for this population. Dr. O’Keeffe lives in Denver with her husband, Dan. She enjoys cooking, traveling, hiking, backpacking, and skiing.
